We’re incredibly proud to share that Germin Chan, founder and CEO of MyMarsupium, has been awarded the prestigious 7NEWS Young Achiever Award — a recognition that celebrates outstanding young individuals making real impact in South Australia.

From humble beginnings as an international student, Germin has always believed in the power of education, empathy, and bold ideas. Through Marsupium, he’s channeled that belief into building a financial education platform that makes budgeting, saving, and money management fun and accessible for young Australians.

Turning Struggles Into Purpose

Germin Chan grew up in a household marked by financial hardship, shaped by a father’s struggle with gambling and overwhelming credit card debt. From a young age, he felt the emotional weight of money stress and made a quiet promise: no child should have to go through the same. That promise became Marsupium—a gamified platform that brings financial education to life through school workshops. Driven by lived experience, Germin leads with empathy, builds meaningful partnerships, and continues learning so he can better serve the next generation. His journey is one of healing, purpose, and hope for a financially fairer future.

Why This Award Matters

The 7NEWS Young Achiever Award isn’t just a personal milestone for Germin — it’s a recognition of the mission behind Marsupium. It shines a spotlight on the growing need for financial literacy tools tailored to young people, especially as Australia faces rising costs of living and widening financial inequality.

This award also reflects the belief that meaningful innovation can come from small startups, fueled not by huge capital, but by passion, lived experience, and community support.

What's Next for Marsupium?

This recognition has energised our team to go further. We’re continuing to:

  • Partner with schools across Australia to run curriculum-aligned financial workshops

  • Develop more interactive tools within our app to teach saving, spending, investing, and earning

  • Collaborate with researchers and government bodies to explore how gamification can reduce financial harm, especially among youth

We’re also working with local and international partners to bring Marsupium to even more communities in 2025 and beyond.

👏👏👏Congratulations again to Germin on this well-deserved recognition. 👏👏👏

We're excited for what's to come!
